What signalling peptides plausibly do

The reasoning behind signal peptides is that fragments released when collagen breaks down act as a repair cue, so applying a synthetic version of such a fragment may prompt fibroblasts to produce more matrix protein. The mechanism is coherent and has support in work on cultured cells.

The gap is between that mechanism and a measurable change in a face. Much of the human evidence is small, short and manufacturer-sponsored, often testing a finished formula rather than the peptide alone, and whether enough peptide reaches the deeper layers is unresolved. Expect modest, gradual effects rather than the clearer results seen with retinoids.

Why niacinamide is an undemanding partner
