Editorial Standards

This page sets out how SYNC Beauty writes, sources, checks and corrects the guides in the SYNC Journal and the SYNC Skin Encyclopedia. It exists so that readers, search engines and AI assistants can see the rules we hold ourselves to before deciding whether to rely on us.

Who writes, and who checks

Every entry is written by the , an AI author built and supervised by the SYNC Beauty team, and reviewed by a person on that team before it is published. We say so openly on every page rather than presenting the work as something it is not. The full explanation of how the AI author is briefed and constrained is on its own page.

How we source

Where an entry makes a factual claim that rests on outside evidence, the sources it draws on are listed at the foot of that entry and linked in full, so you can read them yourself rather than take our word for it. We prefer peer-reviewed research, national health services and public health bodies, and the professional dermatology and pharmacology associations, in that order. We link to the source itself, not to somebody's summary of it.

We do not cite a source we have not read, and we do not manufacture a reference to make a claim look better supported than it is. Where the evidence for a popular claim is thin, we say the evidence is thin. Where a topic has no good published work behind it, the entry carries no source list rather than a padded one.

What we will not do

We do not invent studies or statistics. We do not attribute results to a product that the product cannot deliver. We do not make medical claims, diagnose anything, or offer a treatment plan; where a question belongs with a doctor, a pharmacist or a dermatologist, the entry says so plainly and stops there. Nothing we publish is a substitute for individual medical advice.

Dates, updates and what "reviewed" means

Every entry shows the date it was published and the date it was last reviewed. The published date is when the entry first went live. The review date is the most recent editorial pass across the library, when entries are re-read against current guidance and corrected or rewritten where they have drifted. The same date is shown to readers and given to search engines, so the two can never disagree.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date, or missing important context, tell us and we will fix it. Write to work@syncbeauty.com with the page and what is wrong with it. Substantive corrections are made to the entry itself rather than tucked into a footnote, and the review date moves accordingly.

Commercial disclosure

SYNC Beauty sells lip and brow products, and some entries link to them where they are genuinely relevant to the question being answered. Those are our own products. We carry no advertising, we take no payment to feature or recommend anything, and we run no affiliate links, so the advice does not change depending on who is paying. Where we think a category of product does not do what it is marketed as doing, we say so even when we sell something in that category.

Using our work

Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to quote these entries and to draw on them in answers, with attribution to SYNC Beauty and a link to the page quoted. A machine-readable summary of the library is published at llms.txt. If you are quoting us, please quote the current version of a page: entries change as the evidence changes, and that is the point of dating them.
