What are mango and shea butter?

Mango butter is a soft, cream-coloured plant butter pressed from the seed kernels of the mango fruit (Mangifera indica). Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa), which grows across the savannas of West Africa. Both are solid at room temperature and melt on contact with skin, which makes them ideal bases for lip balms, tinted lip oils and other leave-on lip care.

What’s inside

  • Oleic and stearic fatty acids — the backbone of both butters; they soften skin and slow water loss.
  • Vitamins A and E — antioxidants that support skin renewal and protect from environmental stress.
  • Triterpenes and phytosterols (especially in shea) — soothing compounds that calm irritation and support the skin barrier.

Benefits for lips

  • Deep, lasting hydration — butters form a breathable film that locks moisture in for hours.
  • Restored elasticity — regular use keeps lips supple and helps smooth fine dry lines.
  • Barrier repair — fatty acids replenish the lipids lips lose to wind, cold and dry air.
  • Comfort — no waxy heaviness; both butters melt to a light, cushiony finish.

FAQ

Is mango & shea butter suitable for sensitive lips?

Yes. Both butters are gentle, non-irritating emollients and are well tolerated by sensitive skin. They contain no added fragrance in our formulas.

Will it clog pores around the lips?

Shea and mango butter are considered low on the comedogenic scale and are used in thin layers on the lips, so they are very unlikely to cause congestion.

How often can I apply it?

As often as you like — lip balms with plant butters are designed for daily, repeated use, including overnight.
